The title of a recent conference, “Nonprofits at the Crossroads: A Summit for Board Members and Staff,” inspired a keynote address delivered at the conference and later expanded into the observations in this article. The June 15, 2007 conference was sponsored by the Government Law Center, Albany Law School. Q: I live in a trailer park that is part of the city's low-income housing, purchased by a 501(c)(3) non-profit for the purpose of lessening the burden of government in the application of the low-income housing section.
